A due-south facing roof will provide the optimal potential for your system. Depending on the orientation of your business or home, other directions can also provide sufficient production, and custom-designed mounting systems can orient panels in a southerly direction even if the roof is not.

Each kilowatt (kW) of solar energy will require approximately 100-150 square feet of surface area.
Are there any fixed objects (e.g., trees or other buildings) that will create shading issues on your south-facing space?
Shading objects and features will decrease the power production of your system. AES can perform a detailed shading analysis as part of its solar site assessment to determine how much impact, if any, shading will have on the performance of the solar system.
